Enjoy the awesomeness of Lithuania!

The day after GMD

The Day After GMD, Da 18th Of Mayz

Ausra can be a sleepyhead, I gues its mainly because the intense studying for hours n hours, and the lack of sleep here n there. but she asked me to wake her up in the morning. I usually rise to my senses more early in the morning. When I woke up I made shit loads of Noise using the bathroom and checking the kitchen for things. But this didn’t really seem to wake her up. so I decided to do some Groceries and wake her up after.

I realized I forgot to buy some meatzies for the lasagne yesterday, there was no breadz and no eggzz. I ventured towards the nearby supermarkt (4 min walk) to find myself the needed groceries, when I came back making shit loads of sound again (Doors here are not exactly quiet) Ausra was still alseep…. I opened her laptop put on my favourit songs of Bonobo but this didn’t wake her up either, When I broke the energy barrier of her room and opened the door she was instantly awake though.. hmmmm Interesting.

She made delicious breakfast again, we chilled for a vew hours and she showed how to Solve the Mystery of the Oven n told me that her roomate would probably be home later that day. Around the clock of 13:00 she went for the library and I were to meet up with Agne around 14:00. I met with Agne at the Statue of Gediminas at the Cathedral Square. The sun was shining bright, and I got thirsty from my walk there so we went to the Juice Room for some juice and da picture, there was still lots going on in Vilnius. We encountered these breakdancers and had a look for a while checking who would be most awesome, some of them were indeed very good The stage was free also. anybody could show some moves if they liked

CIMG0866 CIMG0865

We walked around Vilnius for a vew hours, next to the Vilna and the crazy mountain I climed before, Because Agne works for the government I had to ask about some political things and get to know her point of view, I asked about whats the deal with The N@to to see if her information would be similar to the brother n sister that gave me a ride in Poland N we talked about Western/Russian/Ukraine buizness.

(To put it in a nutshell, when I left my country I didn’t like N@to at all. I heard crazy things about them n related them to the NW0 stuff like that. Ever since I left my country and got to know more about this from Polish n Lithuanian people the stories got very different. in short. most of the Eastern people I met until now are Very happy with the N@to presence, basically because its this pact of different countries who work together and protect them in case of crazy shit. also if I understood correctly some people here are scared of the Russian threat, with N@to presence showing they are here to help they feel more save) for the moment i have no opinion anymore, Yesterday there were Fighter Jets flying over and apparently the N@to had this showcase where they would drive with their tanks and shit through Vilnius, Military power doesn’t impress me though and i missed it due to the Djembe’s.

I will keep asking around though, Not that I will ever find the truth, learning more and more is always better then ignoring it completely. Besides I think its still Interesting to see the difference in stories and opinions in every country.

CIMG0867We moved on, we came through this street where they honor most famous artist (like art and poetry) on a wall, I didn’t know any of them. Agne knew a vew and told me some history, I liked this one because of the Sawblades gheghe, but everyone had a different thing. it was very amusing. She showed me the old parlament building if recall correct where she worked, we passed a Traditional Lithuanian store where I bought some Apple-cheese (yes indeed, very weird stuff but very delicious) we passed some awesome “used” books store, her current work and lots moar!!

around 16:00 she headed for her aunt, I figured ill chill in a park a bit n think what I would do for the rest of the day. I headed towards the White bridge, which was close to the Green bridge, Agne told me there was this nice platform with a great view. When I arrived I wanted to take a little nap, the sun was very high in the sky though, and I didn’t wanna burn my face. When I noticed this little Car-stall that sold these Delicious Trakai breadz, I figured: time for snack! I headed to the little Car-stall, it didn’t have English on the menu :( but there were some people in front of me, they spoke English. I asked in general to them all if this stall also sold the sweet breadz with Strawberry or cherries in it, but this was not the case. I was in doubt if I should take the Traditional lambs bread thingy, or something else, I went for something sweet instead. Suuuweeeett!

I got into a conversation with the dudes n a lady, The lady had Very nice Dreadz and she was walking Bare feet. Her name was Rasa, one of the dudes was a friend of her who was named Kazimieras, The other dude apparently was from India, his name was Suva and he played his gig yesterday at the bookstore Agne showed me.

Once again I have a nice example why I think Coincidence doesn’t exists. I told them about my Travelz and the idea behind it. When i got to the point of the “Eco Project” the most amazing thing ever happened, Kazimieras is planning on buying a plot of land 40KM from Vilnius with some friends, start his own Eco-ish project. But mainly, he wants to build Straw/Clay houses. they don’t have very much experience with this yet. But you can imagine why this was not a Coincidence, because they can learn all about that here at Izreal/from the Izreal website and they are welcome to come check out how we do whenever they feel like it. He was very Interested.

Rasa asked what I had for plans, I told her that I did not have any plans, except for walking around a bit n making that Lasagne when I got hungriez. Rasa invited Me to join Them! They were heading to the supermarket to buy some stuff and then head to Užupis (The place with the Constitution) which was the opposite direction of where I had to go, But nevertheless I joined them for a bit. We had some very nice chats about the Eco Projects. Rasa took us to her home for a cup of Tea, Here we shared contact information, blogz, stuff about Straw/clay building. Even Suva had most amazing information for me. In the future I might wanna head north to Scandinavia. he knew some nice places and Eco Projects that I can visit there. He also gave me the names of the most important and influential people that I should contact.
After the tea they were to take the Car to Užupis, Rasa didn’t agree at first. She wanted to walk Bare feet to Užupis. But Kazimieras told her she could sit Bare Feet in the car ghegheghe. much fun were had.

I walked back “Home” Ausra her roommate also named Ruta wasn’t home yet. so I just chilled a bit and used her laptop. Eventually I started with the Lasagne, when I put it in the Mystery Oven Ruta came home. We had a very interesting chat about stuff, For example. Ruta rather works 5 days a week from 8 till 5 and pay the rent for her flat, then having to pick weeds everyday or Cherry’s from Cherry trees all day and live on a big peace of land with allot of freedom. She had to do this when she was young and lived like this. Our opinions about freedom and life were very different, But luckily it are just opinions, and we had a great time chillin together. She loved my Lasagne, and so did Ausra when she came home late that night. I think it was one of the Best lasagnes i ever made, The ingredients here//the Magical Oven made it Perfect!

The next morning Ausra left for Trakai rather early, I was able to join her, but she had to do some stuff for her exams. So instead I Invited her to join me to Trakai after the exams.
Ruta also had stuff to do, but I was able to chill with her for a short time when I woke up.
Because I loved the jammies so much, and Ausra n Ruta eat like 2 pots a year. they told me I could bring some with me. Maybe if I’m lucky they will even get me more in the near future :D Delicious Jammiessss!! I will trade them for Dandelion Sirup which I will be making myself fo funz n tradez.

Note the middle one, Its Magical and floats in the air!

Note the middle one, Its Magical and floats in the air!

I sealed there apartment, hide the keys on a Secret location and started walking to the Rendezvous point where I shoulda meet Basz. On my way walking to the Rendezvous point, I suddenly hear all this honking and crazy sounds. Yup it was Basz who drove right next to me, he saw me walking and told me I was not exactly someone you would not notice, (apparently) this was nice, a 30 min walk to Rendezvous point became a 5 min walk until random Gangster Drive-by Pickup occurred.

It was an Amazing weekend once again, Vilnius is Awesome!

Gatves Muzikos Diena

Vilnius Street Music Day (Gatves Muzikos Diena)
A perfect day for a dude like me to wanders the streets n check whats up.

I Arrived in Vilnius by bus around 11:30, Due to the fact that Ausra had to Study for her Exams nxt week she could not join me for the day, she was so Awesome enough to offer me the key of her apartment. This so I could just go and do my thang. N whenever I felt like going “Homez” i could just go back to her place to chill or do whatever.

As usual I walked from the Central bus/train station to her place. On the way got some of those delicious sweet breads. In the end she wasn’t so hungriez So i ate them both :))) She came back to Vilnius a vew days ago after Visiting Brussels for her study, We had a nice chat about her Travelz n my experiences at da “Eco Project” she showed me how the door works, n stuff like that. Later she went to the Library to study for the rest of the day/night, and I headed into Vilnius old town, Why? Because the Awesome Vakarų Afrikos būgnų mokykla were to play around 14:00 on the Town hall Square AwwwwYeahh!.

The way from “Homez” to the town hall was amazing, when I arrived in Vilnius this morning it didn’t really start yet. but on my way to the Town Hall allot of music was wandering the streets. To give you an idea: Erywhere n Anywhere were peepz. with dem instruments, playing music. Once you passed one and didn’t hear their sounds anymore, the next one would be vibrating your eardrumz, Sometimes even one sound went flawless into the other. Below Some random pictures of random bands I encountered,

CIMG0844 CIMG0845 CIMG0847 CIMG0846

CIMG0848These dudes, they were amazing. When I headed to the Town Hall I checked them out a bit. they were rather smiley and making beats like crazy, they seemed rather enjoyed by everything that they were doing n what was going on.
the thing that amazed me the most, is that Later that day it started raining, but when i went back “Homez” around 22:00 they were still playing there on the same spot. In the rainz. while basically the rest of the bands stopped playing. +1 u dudes.

I recently found a movie, Check dem dudes out!!

I arrived at the Town hall a little bit early, I figured they would be there already preparing. This was not the case. At first i got a little worried I might be at the wrong location, or had the time confused. Luckily at 14:00 Gediminas arrived with car n Djembe’s, not much later I started seeing much more familiar faces. I think we waited for half an hour, the Lithuanian marching band passed by. Doing there National Anthem, when they marched on, it was time for sum Djembe Beatz!

CIMG0850 CIMG0852

It was allot different then the evening at Artistai, what I mean with this is like: It was more a kind of Jam-session, fused with their songs. also Gediminas wasn’t singing any songs this time due to no mic n stuff. Due to this. the Communication between them was even more intense, also everybody was welcome to Grab a Djembe and join them, to bad though I found out at the end of the concert… that wasn’t a problem for me, I just felt like getting Zen again and trying to observe the sound waves shoot out above and around them. It was rather amazing. There was this stage with shit loads o Speakers on the Square, on the edges were bands playing. But when the Djembes started most of those sounds faded into the abyss and Djembe is all we could hear. They played for almost 2 hours straight, with maybe 1 or 2, 5 min breaks in between to switch setups.

Vakarų Afrikos būgnų mokykla
At first, I figured I could join the group again for the rest of the day, or at least Ruta or Kamile. But this time I was not so luckiez. Both didn’t have time, most of the group left right after the concert, only a little core remained: Me, Gediminas n his lady, Ruta, Kamile, Agne, and another person that I didn’t know. We headed to Artistai to get some drinks and some food, but dannnggzz. Due to the Festival it was rather crowded. They told us that we should wait at least 1 hour for food. maybe more. So instead we just ordered a drink.

with my failed idea to join the ladies for the rest of the day. I did some research and asked them what awesome bands I should see, they recommended me allot of things. I also asked what would be nice to get for dinner, all of the sudden I got really in da mood for Lasagne, Oh Yeah baby I love lasagne. When I asked for the Best Restaurant for some Delicious Lasagne they pretty much told me I should make a Lasagne myself, not only would this be cheaper. I had a empty home with awesome Kitchen at my disposal and with some luck I was able to make Ausra very happy with some food when she would come home late at night. There mind-tricks worked, my new plan was to do some groceries n make sum Lasagne later that night.

We left Artistai, Due to the fact that Basz would head to the Airport to pick Chris up at Monday midday, and I could stay at Ausra’s until then, I figured ill ask if someone wanna to join me the next day (Sunday), I didn’t feel like wandering the streets solo again on Sunday, u feel me brah? Ruta n Kamile were to busy, But luckily Agne was up for it! she planned on Visiting her Aunt Sunday afternoon, but until then she was cool.

I walked with Agne for a very little bit, exchanged contact info and started wandering da Streets of Vilnius again. But with a new Quest, Lasagne! on the way I encountered some bandsz again,

CIMG0856 CIMG0858 CIMG0859

Due to the Mind-tricks, I was not able to get some Lasagne at a restaurant, but it was 17:00 and I didn’t eat much all day, I was crazy hungriez. So I got myself a “in between snack” instead, Kebabas!!! While I ate my Kebabas (which this time was not so delicious as previous onces :(( ) I enjoyed these 2 dudes, making crazy beats.

CIMG0857With my snack all finished, I ventured forth, soon after I Encountered this Italian shop. where I bought me some special Lasagne saucze and the dough thingies for the layer buildup. I still needed all da Veggies n something for the top layer. I also got thirsty again, and the lady at the Italian shop recommended me some Juice bar very near.

The Juice bar was supposed to be in some kind of shopping mall, I was able to find the mall. but I didn’t find the Juice bar at first, instead I went to buy some Groceries. I found all the veggies I liked in da Lasagne, but I still needed this top layer. I’m used to bechamelsaus, from the Italian shop lady I got this paper with the Translation of this Saucze in Lithuanian: bešamelio padažas la Lasagne traditzionale. (she didn’t sell it)

While searching for thisz Saucze, I got rather confused again and soon after walking around the store twice, I chilled somewhere close to the Spices n Sauczes, when I Encountered two ladies acting rather decisive-less for an Ice cream (yes the fridges were next to the spices n Sauczes) I figured, lets give it a try. Labas, do you maybe know where I can find this?

At first they looked kinda in shock of me talking to them, but when they read the note, one of the ladies was so committed to assisting me with my Quest, She ran through the store, checked all the place it was possibly stored. I noticed pretty fast that she had no idea where dafuq it was. I told her to just let it be and give me my note back so I could ask someone from the store. She did not like that really, She was Way to committed to help me find the bešamelio padažas, she spoke to random people in the store in Lithuanian, then asked the store people. In the end, it was no were to be found.

In the meantime I got into a conversation with her, when I told her I hitchhiked from The Netherlands, she suddenly started talking crazy words like Woow super tof, Lasagne is lekker, leipe shit ouwe. Apparently she could understand Dutch rather well, and speak it also little-ish, and so I made a new friend, her name is Luka. I asked her if I could join her for a vew hours until I would head “home” to make sum Lasagne, she was glad to.

I was still thirsty, I was not able to find the bottles of water in this store. (not that i trust these bottles anymore, i don’t like bubbled water) but luckily Luka could show me to the Juice Bar I was originally searching for,

Behold, the juice bar!
CIMG0864oh lold I mean Juice room…

(Note, it was super crowded that moment, but since i left Artistai I didn’t really make much pictures. this picture is from Sunday when I returned for a picture to pimp my blog a bit)

While ordering some juice, I tried my best Lithuanian. When I tried to pronounce the most complicated of names of those juices, Luka was rather amused and was not shy of laughing at me in Da Face. I was able to slap(not actually) her back in the face, cuz a Fun Fact for yall to know

Lithuanians cannot pronounce the G or SCH like the dutch can
and with the rolling R they also have trouble now n then.
also there W doesn’t even Exists in their alphabet, so this can be funny also if you find the right words. I’m not sure if this was just Luka or if it is for Lithuanians in General but the UI was also something hilarious to see her try to pronounce, so if a Lithuanian if making fun of you about your speech, ask them to try this sentence.

Gekke Geiten melken op SCHiermonnikooG
(I bet there are better ones. ((Haters gonna Hate))

Most of the time they don’t even try, and be like. OOOHHH No wayyy That is Mission Impossible! The point of all the crazyness written above here is: I just met Luka, but it didn’t feel like I met someone new, it was Crazy fun from the moment she started talking dutch and I was glad to meet someone crazy again to chill with for the time being!

When we went outside of the mall, it was raining like mad, her friend in the Store ran off somewhere. but a new friend of her joined. They brought me to their Favorite chill spot (to smoke) Also a Fun Fact. Lithuanian ladies don’t like smoking and walking, so basically every time they wanna smoke they find a place to chill. They say Smoking and walking is for Buiznesz girls in a hurry or for hookers. lelz…. but mainly they think a Smoke is to enjoy, so you don’t do that while walking, you chillax.

As usual I told them my story with the help of my camera, meanwhile another friend of them joined, We had a very fun time teaching Dutch/Lithuanian, also a bit Russian, pronunciations, crazy jokes like. Dat is echt een Dijenkletser (this came from Luka her mouth) and lots more,

When the thunder and rain stopped we started wandering the streets again,
They felt like dancing. I should have movied it probably, but basically when these crazy drummer dudes made crazy beats, they started moving like crazy Aboriginals doing some Ritual. It was once again rather amusing for me to see.

CIMG0861Later that evening they had plans for some Crazy party in some club to do some more dancing, I didn’t really feel like clubbing, I still had a Lasagne to Summon from the Depths of LasagnaLand, so I headed back “home” to Ausra’s place so I could prepare the Summoning Ritual of da LasagnazZ, We passed Luka her home where our paths split, her 2 friends (although I remember their faces I cant recall their names), joined me for a bit, their bus stop was on the way I was heading. Due to the fact I still didn’t find dem bešamelio padažas one of them Recommended me Some Cheese, I joined them to another store to buy dem cheese. afterwards our paths split also, and I had a 20 min walk towards Ausra’s ahead of me

Arriving at Ausra’s I felt like inspector gadget, using all my Skillz to find the needed things. which was not so hard after all. When I opened her fridge I was Amazed really,
This is what Ausra her fridge looks like. In NL Most fridges have things from the Albert Heijn, but Ausra her fridge was filled with home made Awesomeness,

Let me Introduce to you, Ausra her Fridge

AusraFrigerator-On the top shelf, some pickles, but besides those mostly home mad Jammies n thingz-
-Below some more Jammies and some bought cheese-
-some mandarins and yoghurts-
-then some fruit/veggie things in some sort of saucze-
-and the drawer below was full of apples from her parents garden-

But back to the Summoning Ritual, I managed to gather all the needed things and was ready to say some chants to prepare the Ritual. but then I realized I skipped one of the most difficult parts of the Ritual.

I had to fire up her oven, because what is a Lasagne without being in the Oven for about 45 min on 180 degrees. well not a Lasagne indeed,

The oven was a Mystery, I tried to solve it, it had no button to show the Degrees, no timer (which is oke) only a button with a big and a small fire on it, I tried some Combinations, with some combinations I could hear gas coming from different parts of the oven, but this was not Constant, as if i didn’t enter the correct combination, after trying for a while, the smell of Gasz was to intense, I didn’t want to fail the Ritual and summon demons from the depths of the underworld, or maybe even blow up the entire building. I tried to find some Aid,

When I send her an sms to ask if she would be hungry and if she could give me some hints to solving the Oven mystery, she was rather Mysterious and didn’t really care to give me some hints on solving the mystery. I gues she wasn’t so hungry as i expected gheghe.

My Lasagne dinner surprise failed, the Ritual ended in Me eating all the chocolate bars I could find in her cupboard, and eating some breads with the Most delicious Jams I could ever imagine from the fridge. Around 00:00 Ausra arrived back home, she was rather amused with my explanation of trying to solve this Oven Mystery. We had a good laugh and chilled for a bit, but it was getting late, not much later ZzZzZzZZzzz,

The next day was also a very fun day,
Check it out!

Adventure Time:West Vilnius

I don’t have much to add to da Blog these dayZ now I’m up to date n Clayying Eryday! But I feel like writing anywayz. So ill just tell you about the Awesome day I had today. Because I did not expect to be playing da Tourist, I didn’t bring my camera. Which is to bad for you all, but ill try to give you as much of an impression I can with the use of gQQgle…. n the very limited thing called Language.

It all started with me searching for a particular type of Trousers. During the African Drum evening i got into contact with someone who knew a lady in Vilnius that sells them, you can check out her Online Website to get an idea of what type of clothing i was searching for.

Due to the fact that Karin had to be brought to the airport this morning at 06:00 I contacted to ask if i could come visit her to check out her merchandise. This was all cool. So I joined Basz n Karin to the airport.

We woke up at 05:00, drove to the airport, Dropped of Karin. Of course I asked Basz to be a nice dude and drop me off somewhere close to my meeting point, I had in mind to check out where I should be. and then take a nap in the park somewhere due to the fact that 06 was a bit to early and the hour of 10:00 was better for her to meet.

Luckily Basz is a very nice dude, to explain why. The address I had my appointment is located in the Orange Circle. Basz dropped me of in the Green Circle…… Thnx Bro!

walkey Adventure WalkeyI bet you haz an idea now, of the story I’m gonna tell you today?
My Adventure into West Vilnius!

Luckily I like walking, Basz dropped me of in the Green circle around 06:15, although I had my map and used it now n then. I tried to navigate as much without it. To do this I first went towards the river The Neris, from there I started to walk West. I went straight through the district Žvėrynas, at the end of the district was this park-ish thing. I was aware of the fact that there was this huge nature area in between Žvėrynas and the address I had my appointment at 10 o clockz. At first I didn’t know for sure if there would be paths to walk. but it seemed so. So I headed straight in towards the Red Line.
(I am currently walking the light green line towards the Orange Circle)

This is where things became more Adventurous, Imagine its between 06:30/07:00 in the morning. your walking over a pathway through amazing Forrest and hills. when eventually the path stops(Da Red Line). Because I didn’t know for sure if the Forrest had paths, I decided to walk the River-Bank of the Neris,

Yup. I went totally off road, Basically I was walking with 1 feet in the Neris water and 1 feet on Solid Forestry-Sand-soil gheghe. I would love to show you pictures of this very beautiful landscape and river views i saw. but the best i can do for now is to give you this picture from Da gQQglez to give you an idea.

vingioparkasvanagasbfl(For those who still don’t exactly understand how i walked.)
(I Started somewhere in the city on the top left of this picture, Headed into the Forrest on the Left of the picture and Followed the Neris towards the houses you can see on the Bottom right of the picture, Where i headed into “Civilized Area” again)

I really enjoyed the walk, close after the Red Line I encountered a Fisherdude who was solo trying to catch sum fish. The rest of the walk I did not Encounter any Humanoid beings, Only Birds, Insects, Fish, Unknown things and did I mention Birds? Lots of Birdszies!!! Also HUGE Snails!

I arrived at the meeting point around 08:00, Dangz. still 2 hours to go until I could check out the awesome Merchandise. also that plan I had to take a sweet nap somewhere in the Forrest was not really going to happen. I was wide awake and aware, so I just started walking into a random direction and ended up at the TV Transmitting antenna of Vilnius, from here back into the woods. (I am now walking the Dark Green line)

Meanwhile entering the woods, I really gotta take a poop lulz. But no toilet paperz and no bathroom nearby. to bad eh. well fuck dat shit. I gathered some leaves (I think it were Oak and Birch leaves) and did my thang, ffffeeeuwww, What a relieve!!
I continue my Adventure, ended up high on top of a hill with a very nice view. I could see all over the park at the other side of the Neris, I could see the city in the close horizon, it was beautiful. (We are now at the Spiral) here on top of this hill/mountain as I prefer to call it, I sat for a while. Meditated and eventually went back to my meeting point in the Orange circle. Still walking the Green Line, Meanwhile I did not meet any Humanoids. only Wildlings

I Arrived around 09:30, a little bit to early indeed. I Went to the supermarket to buy something to eat and drink, I Accidentally bought bubble water….. that was not so nice. it Tasted Awe full n not so delicious. I gave it away and ate a banana instead.

Around 10:00 Ragganata joined me at the Meeting point, we went to her place, had a very nice chat, i told her the story of my Journey n Eco Village interests. She told me about the clothes she sells, (for example, She works together with communities in Nepal where she travels once in a while. They make most of the clothes by hand. She is the Fair Trader in between the “West” n Them). Things she does for a living, We shared some Festivals here in Lietuva where i will probably fit into. She even Invited me to join her, she will be giving Workshops and selling the Merchandise. We will see about that whenever the time comes near. But most Amazing of all, i have been trying to find Patched Jacked for a while now. Ragganata will see what she can do about that, and maybe she will Custom Make one for me later this year. AwwwwYeaaahhh!!

Around 12:00 we said our goodbyes, I will most certainly keep contact with her for some workshops n lots of other things i didn’t include in today’s story. but that doesn’t really matter for yall anywayz. I headed towards the Central Train station, (you can check google maps if you curious how far my next walk was) Close to the Central station is a very nice Market, I had to get some fresh harvested honey there, after I headed into Vilnius Old Town to find me Moar needed things.

One of those was Kebabas Tun TUn TUNN!! there really Delicious here in Lietuva. Basically every time I head into Vilnius I try to get a Kebabas. so, so Delicious! It has less meat then in NL but lots moar fresh Veggies and then Drowned in Sausze!!
I was back home around 18:00, Thinking about delicious dinner, but we were both rather Apathetic to cook sum so we decided to Pizza instead. Blegh. We did some Groceries n grabbed a pizza for dinner. (Indeed, At the moment its just Me n Basz at da “Village”)

Hopefully one day you will be in Vilnius walking through this area, I’m sure you will be Amazed. especially if you have been a City-slicker all yo live.

The Iron Wolf “Legend”

Not only have I been meeting new amazing people, n trying to learn some new languages. I’m also learning allot about history from different regions of Europe,

The legend of the Iron Wolf, and the Rise of Vilnius is by far the most interesting until now. I will try to tell you this legend in a nutshell. But of course you should probably consult the internet or the Lithuanian locals if you want the full “correct” story.

I got to know the story of this legend because kamile was wearing a necklace of the Iron Wolf, after they explained the story a lil. I also found out that here in Vilnius, there is a Iron Wolf statue that moves around like the I Amsterdam sign does in Amsterdam.
The next morning when i took the bus back to Moletai, i was honored to meet the Iron Wolf in the bus station

The legend of The Iron Wolf and the rise of Vilnius

The legend of The Iron Wolf and the rise of Vilnius

gediminasOnce upon a time the Grand Duke of Lithuania, Gediminas. went on a hunting trip. he had lots o funzies. But hunting makes you tired. He was hunting in the Area of the Nerris where Vilnius is located these days.

There, on a mountain top he made camp and slept for the night. That night he had a dream, a dream of an Iron Wolf howling upon this mountain, his Howl sounded like like a pack of over 9000 wolves.

he was curious what this dream, this vision he had that night would mean. So he consulted a Wizard(/Priest) to find the message behind this dream.

the Wizard listened full of interest to the duke his story about his dream. With a vew strokes on hisz massive White Gandalf Beardz the Wizard told him:

“Sire, the Iron Wolf signifies a large and mighty city. The city will stand as strong as iron and its walls will protect the land from its enemies. The howling means a clamor will arise from it reaching far beyond the country’s borders and proclaiming through long centuries the glory of Lithuania.”

The duke was pleased and felt a connection with this meaning, He gathered the best Artisans, craftsmen, and more needed experts from all over Europe to make this city become Reality.

He started building the City of Vilnius on the mountain top he had slept that night and dreamed of the Iron Wolf.

The Beard stroking Wizard his predictions came true, Vilnius grew and prospered after Gediminas founding. Lithuania grew into a great medieval power allied with other powers like Poland. Gediminas his Grand son became king of Poland/Lithuania for a while, and conquered lots of land from the Baltic sea to the Black see. The Kingdom reigned for many years. until the Russians took over Vilnius, and shit got madface.

/End of Nutshell.

This legend is very known all over Lithuania and most of the people here know at least a small portion of it. I think its an amazing Story. soon I will return to the mountain the Duke slept to try and tune into the vibe of this legend. The last time I was there after my Crepzel breakfast I didn’t know about this legend yet.

On the right: Gediminas his Campsite.

African Drumz

Finally the time haz come for me to share you my story about the Day/Night I went to check out da African Drumz concert, lets travel back in time,

Its Saturday, da 3th of May.

I joined the Almerians who were heading to Vilnius to check out some stuff and visit the Ikea…. we arrived around 15:00. Because I Srsly was not in the mood to join them to Ikea. they dropped me off somewhere on the edge of the City center at a gasz station. I only had this small map of the Old town, and I had no idea where they dropped me off so I bought a map of all of Vilnius and asked the first dudes I came across if they could point me how to get to the old town. It was about a 30 min walk from the gasz station. While talking with the dudes some Police car came by, shouting things in Lithuanian, behind them some motorcycles, I asked them whatsup. They told me that it was the First day of the Motorcycle Season, CIMG0746every year all the Bikermice cruise their bike on that day and they have like this “Police guided start” This was very nice. I stood there for a bit to check out all da Motorcycles, they were cruising in the opposite direction of where I had to walk. So eventually I started walking towards the old town. But to bad for me, I had to wait a bit more, simply because there were SO MUCH MOTORCYCLES, I think after like 10 maybe 15 minutes they had this lil break so people could cross and cars could go again.

CIMG0747 CIMG0748

When I was able to cross this street I ventured forth towards the old town, meanwhile I got hungriez, when I met this coffee stall I checked out there snacks. Bought a chocolate chip cookie that was bigger then my Face, and while I was there. I asked the locals behind the counter where I could find the Best Kebabas of Vilnius. Of course taste differs from peepz to peepz but the recommended me a Kebabas which was rather close, I headed to the Kebabas place, I can’t recall the name but it was something hilarious like, Happy Kebabas. or something like that. I wish they had a place like this in the Netherlands. Because This!!!!!

Meanwhile scouting places in Vilnius I never walked before Enjoying the Indeed Most Delicious Kebabas i ate in Vilnius, I came across the first church that was not Amazingly Beautiful, well to be honest i liked it anywayz. But it was rather trashed. Non the less there were people inside doing there thing. The park next to it was rather chillin also, there was this dude playing guitar. I stood there for a while to finish the Mango drink I bought across the street. the Kebabas made me thirsty.

CIMG0751 CIMG0752

I ventured forth, and it seemed I was rather close to the Town hall and the Vilnius Gatve which I already knew from the last times I was in Vilnius, when walking around I came across a passage that I walked pass a vew times before when I had to go the the hostel I slept in the first night I arrived in Vilnius. This time though, I noticed something I didn’t notice before, as some can imagine. I was rather amused :))

Tun . . TUn . . TUUUNNNN ………

CIMG0755 CIMG0753 CIMG0754

I know, its probably not related at all, it has a completely different meaning then what you might expect of me, (for those who know me better) but still. the fact that I walked pass this building a vew times and never noticed it before. Made it extra fun for me at the time.

The concert was around 20:00, so I still had some spare time to fill, I just kept walking towards random things. and on the way I encountered things like this. (or you can just scroll down and skip to the evening if you lack da interest tzzzz)

Segz fo rent!Indeed, you can rent a Segway here in Vilnius. I didn’t try them yet because I like walking so much. But ill probably do it sometime before I will leave Lietuva, Although I was not able to picture them. The Police here also cruise around on the Segways. This confuses me though. How will you be able to catch a Criminal if you are cruising on yo Segway. They can just push you over or like jump over Vences n shortcuts. Segways can fly you know. I thought it was rather Un-Practical, but much funzies were had the moment i saw them cruise by.

I learned about the Erection of a bridge. next to the bridge were some Lithuanian words I couldn’t read imprinted in the side of the river or whatever i should call it. I waited there for a bit to ask someone if they could tell me what it means. As usual coincidence doesn’t exist, I belief this because not much later a group of ladies walked by, and they all had these Hearts with Text on them, so i figured they would know the answer for sure. One of the girls was getting married and they were doing there bachelor party walk through Vilnius thingy. They explained me the text meant I love you to, and As myliu …. (you) is i love you, very confusing but nice to know.

CIMG0757 CIMG0756

Because the green bridge I just crossed was heading me towards North, and Artistai (the bar where the Djembe concert would be) was rather more south, I walked back the same way I came. On the way back I noticed this little store selling cakez n stuff. I couldn’t resist to try and it was the most amazing sweet bread snack i ever ate.

Delicious sweet breadthingthe story behind them is something like this. There is this Castle/town called Trakai, where these bread originally come from. They were only made there, then someday they started selling them in Vilnius. At first they were with meats in it. like chicken or pork, but of course for peepz like me, they later made them with Strawberry/Cherry/Apple cinnamon filling and lots more.

Daangzz they are so delicious! I’m gonna try them all eventually!

Artistai was a 5 min walk from the Town Hall, I arrived at the town hall a little more then a hour before 20:00 so when I encountered a Fountain at the Town hall Square (not so big as in Warszawa) I chilled with her for a while, Waiting till i could head to Artistai. I headed to Artistai 30 minutes before 20:00 to see if the group arrived already, Of course they did. I didn’t wanna be lame and stalk them while they did there Sound-check so I chilled outside until they started. Luckily Ruta n Kamile joined me for a smoke a little while. They also introduced me to another member of the Group Agne. While they were all busy with preparing, Agne had some spare time apparently. She joined me for a chat, Agne works for the G0verment “spooky sounds” but besides that. she had some very Amusing stories to tell.

CIMG0761 CIMG0762

It started to get dark slowly, and the bar started to get crowded.

Drum Roll” ITS TIME, For Vakarų Afrikos būgnų mokyklaBa Dum Tsss

The Concert Started, The leader dude called Gediminas (like the legend) started to do his story, he talked in Lithuanian so i couldn’t understand, but that didn’t bother me. Basically the group is pretty big, some of them are rather new, some of them are very Experienced,
They started with a little intro with more experienced players, then every song the players on the stage would switch their instruments, And if i understood correctly, The newer players of the group started with the first vew songs, and eventually the more experience players would play the more complicated beats i gues,

DSC_0012 CIMG0763 DSC_0083

What i really liked about Gediminas was his way of communicating with the group. He like guided them through the songs (of course they studied them) But you could see the group relying on his guidance, he has some very interesting Gestures and uses his hands to tell certain people of the group to either play louder or or softer and so on. He talked in between the songs. Also what was very, very interesting is the way he tried to Involve the audience in the Gig. For example with telling us (the audience) to clap a certain rhythm within a song and sometimes even he asked us to sing with him. It was amazing. I could really feel the energiez he tried to awaken, n the flow through the instruments and the people. I got in this sort of trance like whooow what is going on here. what is happening to me. what am i feeling. this is amazing! they were very very nice. and the way the played the Djembe, switched n involved the Audience and everything together was an amazing way to do it!

DSC_0006 DSC_0070 DSC_0026
DSC_0130 DSC_0142 CIMG0768

The pictures above will give you an impression of how the people changed over the different songs, and how the instruments changed. You might thing what the dude is playing on the 6th picture. Its a hollow Pumpkin. and he was like making beats on it, very simple but very awesome! This apparently was also a Favorite song of allot of people in the room gheghe, Including my host for the night (but that’s a bit ahead of the story)

At the end of the evening. the most amazing thing happens, They started to give shit loads of Djembes to the Audience, and Gediminas gave this very little Djembe lesson, To explain: He showed this beat the Audience should play, then they would play there song over it. He really tried to Involve the Audience throughout the evening. It was amazing! It went pretty well in my opinion, I still couldn’t understand what he was saying but i played Djembe a vew times a long time ago. So i just watched what he did, and eventually i could figure it out. I really enjoyed playing the Djembe that night. I also had this Nostalgic moment where i missed my Shaman drum, and also playing my beloved Drum Kit. But the playing of the Djembe and making some beats was nice and a really perfect Finisher for the concert!

DSC_0157 DSC_0162 DSC_0168

After the Djembe lesson and the Songs we played together The concert ended. I didn’t have a place to sleep yet, a problem i had to fix. but it was Saturday night n Luckily I was able to join the group for the rest of the night, First we chilled a bit at Artistai, of course we ate some Kepta Douna n took some beers. I was lucky once again. Ruta helped me to ask around the group if there was someone that could offer me a place to sleep. The lady who made the Pictures is a trusted Couch-surfer, and that night her roommate was away for the weekend. She invited me to stay at her place if it was for 1 night. Which was perfect for me! Now with a save place to sleep and not having to worry about taking a Bench in a park, This very comfortable feeling rushed through my body. I was able to clear my mind easier. No worriez, About no thingzzz!! Just chillin with da Djembe peepz!

So after da Gigz, the Kepta Douna, a beer, N a couch for me to sleep, the group got hungriez. They decided to grab a pizza nearby. I felt like pizza also and I was welcome to join them. So of course I did! we chilled for a while at the pizza place, in the end we ordered around 6 different type of this size pizzas. They were very Delicious

CIMG0769I was able to get to know my Host for the night,
Her name is Ausra, She also has a very good Talent for Laughter, she also laughs Very loud which it think is amazingly funny (much later she also told me that sometimes in Public transport. people complaint about her laugh, Because its so Specific and loud) Lame right, how can you complain if someone laughs. this is also when I got to know about the Iron wolf Legend deu to Kamile her necklace. It got pretty late that night, After the pizza a vew of the group went for another drink. But me n Ausra were rather Tired, also she haz Exams soon n she had to study the next morning so we decided to start walking to her place, which was about 20 minutes. The walk was fun, we passed the Segway place, the place where I bought the delicious sweet bread snack, n then we had to cross the Green bridge, heading bit more north into the district up there. Ausra is Studying Medicine and will specialize in Psychology next year, She also Hitchhiked allot, and Climbed mountains n crazy things! We chilled at her place for a while to get to know each other a bit more, the next morning she cooked me some Omlett-ish breakfast n when she went for the Library i walked towards the Central station to take the bus back home.

Due to the good time we had, Ausra basically told me that I could come back Anytime to crash at her place. Which was very awesome, because I was pretty sure I would be visiting Vilnius more often, Basically I don’t have to worry about a place to sleep anymore, anytime I want to go to Vilnius. Ill just gieb Ausra a call. n I’m welcome to stay. Yay!

In the end. I’m really glad I met Ruta the day I arrived in Vilnius, Through her I got to know Kamile and their awesome happiness, And through them I got to know about there African Drum group they play in which I also like very much. And if it wasn’t for this night at Artistai, I wouldn’t have met Ausra, who will be my Vilnius host for as long as she will live in Vilnius wooop wooop!. And we shouldn’t forget Agne, which i spoke to just a little at Artistai, but in the future I will get to know her better also. and she told me more about the N@to stuff n gave me a tour da Vilnius (U can read alboutdiz here)

afrikos bugnuIf you are interested in the African Drumz group Vakarų Afrikos būgnų mokykla

You should check out there Website! Although I think its not in English. if you hit the compas with “Vakarėliai !” next to it, you can find some movies n hear their beatsz!!

Or here some movieezzz, it shows what i mean with the way Gediminas communicates and uses hand gestures and involves the croud u get da point!

Final destination (for now) IzReal

busThe day hasz come. It was time for me to head to my new home, its Sunday da 27th of Aprilz. My final destination for now is located somewhere in the Green circle.

It got pretty late last night. So much phunzies we had! Also it was the first time in a longer while that I had more Beers than usual, As my closer friend will know. I didnt drink much/almost nothing since the Vodka incident in Dec 2012. Last night changed everything. So much delicious beer NomNom. Its not that I felt it the next morning, but due to the travels and all the energy used on meeting new ppl n going to bed later then I was used to, I was very tired. Luckly this hostel I found had Free breakfast, Pancakes!! freshly baked around 08 o clocks by the lady behind the desk. I wanted to stay in Vilnius a bit longer, but due to no Couch and not a fan of hostels I figured I should just head to Izreal. I can come back anytime Right! its not that I will leave Lietuva anytime soon. I was not in the mood hitchhiking to Moletai thow, the central train/bus station was basically next to my hostel. I checked the bus. just 6 euroez. Fuck yeah!

I had to wait like 30 minutes for the bus, I decided to check a market nearby, got myself some apples n bananas. I love those fruitzies!. Also, the most amazing thing ever.
1Kg lemons For only 3 litas. Can you fkn imagine? 1KG LEMONS For only 0.90 Euroez. (aka 90 cent) Lietuva is like Dolan Heaven!

TeletubbielandThe bus ride was Comfy. It took about 90 minutes, not much of an highway here. It didn’t drove that fast either due to the hills and curves and crazyness. But I didn’t mind. I slept for a while, in between I once again was amazed by the landscape of Lietuva. (Since I arrived here last week, I think I didnt got the best pictures in the bus. But for now good enough to give you an impression) sooner or later i will go scout the area and show you the most amazing spots.
CIMG0674 CIMG0672 CIMG0670

I think i arrived at Moletai around 15:00, gave basz an sms. He was so kind enough to pick me up from the central bus station. Its about a 15 minute drive to the home of basz. At first it was asphalt road. But soon enough we went off road and drove roads like this (see below). Very awesome. For all of you who play DayZ, here in Lietuva the crazy sand clouds behind the car are forreal!  I felt like I was in DayZ real time. Driving so fast over dirt roads avoiding rocks. lovely landscaping. Animal all over the place, random farms here n there. A Completely different world again, no more big cities, cars n peepz. I was rather enjoyed! and it was the first time i met Basz in real life,

CIMG0680A vew dayZ before I arrived 3 other peepz joined Basz at Izreal. To give the story in a nutshell. Basz started it all with 6 peepz in 2012. 5 of them bailed, shit happened. they couldn’t handle the physical work, all kinds of crazy shit. So eventually he ended up there alone. doing his thing.

Now peepz like me join him, stick around for a while. Then leave again, maybe come back next year. At the moment Basz is the only dude living here Eryday.

So the 3 other peepz are also from Almere. Kamp Nederland Represent! HUW HUW! My whole view of the Eco village got turned upside down. First of all, Its not an Eco village. Its nothing like i expected it to be. Nevertheless. I instantly felt at home. No worriez. Be happyz. The amount of humor used on a daily basis is Over 9000! Its just not an option to take thingz to Serious. Even when it does for about 1 minute. it gets owned by humor afterwards. if not, definitely a good proportion of sarcasm gets thrown in your face.

We Chilled for a bit. got to know each other, got a Tour de Izreal. lil tutorial on the compost toilet, water well. stuff like that. You can find Tour de Izreal Here!

That night watching the Sun set. I knew, I arrived at the place i belong. At-least for now.
I let my Spirit guide me, when he tells me its time to go into the abyss again. its time.

CIMG0693Home sweet home.

Curious what kept us busy the first week?
Check it out!

First day in Vcity

CIMG0632Its Saturday da 26th of April, Around 10 o clockz. the night in the hostel was oke-ish. It didn’t had free breakfast though D:

So my first Quest for today was some delicious breakfast. At first i wanted to take some traditional Lithuanian breakfast but this was not so easy. (apparently breakfast is not so popular under the Lithuanian people. but of course it depends on the person)

So after walking around for a while, checking some restaurants and being amazed by all the colors. I ended up eating a very nice Apple cinnamon Crepe at a random terras in a park. Meanwhile finding breakfast I noticed the most amazing architecture i have seen in a while. I’m not a church kinda dude. but i have to admit the churches here are very beautiful.! and i like to look at them, check the symbolism and construction. to make things EZ fo ya all, check Diz

While enjoying my breakfast, I noticed this castle/lookout tower on top of a hill which was in the park I was breakfasting in. With my belly happy of the Applecreppel I decided to climb the hill to check out the castle on top and scout the area a bit, This was the view.

CIMG0635 CIMG0634

I noticed allot of thing I would like to see, for example (which is not in the picture) there was this mountain-ish nearby, I noticed there was another lookout point on there n there were allot of green areas.

Seeing Vilnius from up high, I went down again and started walking in the direction that attracted me the most. The mountain. In Case you are curious about my mindset when I just arrived at a Capital city, and I don’t know what da fuck ima be doing.
Basically i walk around. i like to walk.
I check the map a bit to make sense of direction easyr, but usually i just walk. and see where my feet bring me. In this case I just headed towards the mountain. of course on the way things just got better and better.

CIMG0636CIMG0637Down the hill, walking through the park towards the mountain i noticed allot of Scouting groups doing there practice.

it was Saturday and I think in the weekends the scouting groups practice. Vilnius is full of parks and nature. Basically all day. everywhere I went, I noticed Scouting group doing awesome things. Here they practiced walking over rope, if someone would fall off. they started over again. but I didn’t stay to see if they eventually managed. it was really amusing to see thow.

There are 2 rivers running through Vilnius. the Nerris which is the bigger river probably used for trade and boats. And a smaller one called the Vilnia, at the end of the park I ended up at the Vilnia, I was again amazed by the beauty, I really love to see rivers like this going through city’s like Vilnius. Also because it was Scouting day, there were different groups trying to cross the river by rope. making rafts and crossing it, and lots more.

CIMG0638 CIMG0641 CIMG0642

Here you see the river. If you walk up the grass you have this Cracked shell path which follows all along the banks of the river, then there is this park. Then the city starts. I followed the river south, finding a bride to cross it, at the other side of the river was the mountain i wanted to climb.

CIMG0645I took a little detour, once I arrived at the bridge to cross the river. I didn’t have a place to stay yet for the night and there was a hostel nearby, so i checked it first. i had no luck. eventually i walked around a bit to find a hostel. eventually i found a oke-ish hostel for the night.

many of the roads you have in Vilnius look like this <-. I like it. although it is rather creepy at night if you walk it alone gheghe. So after checking out the streets a bit, I went on towards the mountain. On the way i spoke to some random peepz on the street to ask what i should see fo sho while in Vilnius, the told me to check out Užupis and its Constitution, To explain. there is this island in Vilnius. Its like a separate community, I gues you could say its similar to Ruigoort. The difference is, this community are mostly professional artistians these days (like art) and they live by a vew simple rules.

It was next to the mountain so instead of heading up. I went to check the Constitution first, I had trouble finding it at first. they told me I should cross the bridge, pass the Angle statue, and then somewhere on the wall i could read the Constitution in 10 different languages. of course when I arrived at the Angel, I took the wrong turn and ended up in the middle of Užupis instead of the Constitution. I went back, eventually i found it and Again I was rather amazed by it. I felt some sort of connection with it. and the idea of people actually living by these rules in that part of Vilnius is amazing in my honest opinion.

CIMG0652Although I think all of them are amazing, and very truthful

I would like to ask you to think about these a bit more. But this is not an Obligation
4 n 5,
20 !!!!!
31 n 32,
35 !!!!!

Gettin Zen on the Constitution I was finally ready to Climb some mountains,
this time I walked the river North, but on the other side. This was not a nice straight cracked shell path but a rather adventurous dirt road. I noticed allot of peepz walking anywhere they wanted. Me, An Erthling Raised in the “West” felt I should follow the paths, If i would leave the path in a nature area in NL you risk getting a ticket because most of the time it is not allowed and bla bla bla. but very soon i felt like fuck dat shit. and i just Went straight in and up!

CIMG0656 CIMG0657 CIMG0658

I think it took me at least an hour to get to the top. maybe longer. my point is. i wasn’t in a hurry. I really enjoyed it. and it felt amazing. There were 3 crosses on top which was a lookout also. (the picture on the right shows you the mountain//hill and the crosses, but i took the picture a week later when i returned to Vilnius. ill blog about this amazing day soon!) Below you will see some pictures I made while i was at the top. some “Wild” animals I encountered. I also meditated for about 30 minutes somewhere on a quiet spot. but due to the climb my body was very tired. So i was dozing off very fast instead of keeping the focus. In the final picture below you can see the Castle on the hill i climbed after breakfast,

CIMG0661 CIMG0659 CIMG0665

CIMG0664 CIMG0663 CIMG0660

So after climbing the mountain, scouting the top, checking the view, trying to meditate. I got hungriez again. I went down to finally find myself some Traditional Lithuanian foodzies, but when i got down (which was also a pretty exciting adventure because i again didn’t feel like taking any road or stairs) I felt like taking a nap. Which i did for about 30 minutes on in the grass on the river bank of the Vilnia. I’m used to taking a nap in the train or bus. but this nap was the most amazing nap i ever took. the sound of the water, children playing, musicians musicing. It was perfect and right on the spot!
of course I got super hungry when i woke up. So i put my Traditional Lithuanian food Quest on priority #1.

CIMG0643On the way I came across some street workers. This is very interesting. I know how we make brick streets in the Netherlands. of course its and expertise. but not so special Imo. This though. This is just wow. The dude fits every rock on the spot, he like turns it around a vew times until he finds out how it fits best, Hits it a vew times, add some sand, hits it again, levels it with the water thingy and so on. I stood there for a while to watch. I was very entertained.

Finally i came to the bigger streets of Vilnius with the amazing restaurants and whatnot.
Due to my woozynes of my nap at the Vilnia, and my crazy mountain climbing experience I first found myself some Saltibarsciai. Remember the beetroot soup in Warszawa? the blood? here in Lituva they also have Beetroot soup, but they serve it cold. Its very tasty and very refreshing. It hit the spot right on, after the Saltibarsciai I was all fresh again, ready for the Saturday night. I was still hungry though. So after I found myself a Traditional Lithuanian Kitchen and ordered some Cepelinai, which is a meat filled potato zeppelin gheghe. the drink is Kvass, not cola lel Fuck Cola! Kvass is made of bread. it was very interesting taste. The dinner was delicious and I had no more hungriez after that. Now i was really ready for a Vilnius Saturday night.

CIMG0666 6280378614_eeed694900_z

Walking around, and basically with no idea what i was supposed to be doing that evening. I stopped at a town map to check out where I haz been walking and where I could maybe find something fun to do. next to the map stood a lovely lady, she was listening to music. Usually I don’t talk to people on the street so much. but ever since I left home this changed like crazy. With all my Beardly charms I asked her if she spoke English, told her that I arrived last night, and was very curious what a Lithuanian would do for fun on a Saturday night in Vilnius.

CIMG0667We got into a confo, she was waiting for 2 of her friends. If this would happen to me in Amsterdam i would just say Paradiso/Melkweg, but she had no idea of something fun to do except for a reggae place, she was like: usually we just walk around with no plan until something awesome happens. I didn’t feel like going solo again. So I asked her if I could join them for the evening. She didn’t mind yay!. When her 2 friends arrived I both asked them the same thing. Both of them didn’t think i was some creepy wanker (i guess), sure no problem! they replied. Her name was Rūta, her 2 lady friends that joined later were Kamile (with a thingy on the e) and … (i dont remember her Lithuanian name) but she told me the meaning of her name in English. which is “Cloudless Sky” (ps; the picture is where i met Ruta, (with a thingy on the u)

They took me to a bar nearby, where we drank some beers. Very delicious beers. With the help of my camera I showed them some pictures of my Journey and told them the stories of the crazy things I experienced in the last 2 weeks. They were really friendly and liked the stories i had to tell.  They also explained me whats the deal with the religion here, and we shared our ideas about the current state of the world. “Cloudless Sky” her boyfriend was almost done from work, so we went to pick him up somewhere. Meanwhile they gave me a lil tour and thought me about the history of Vilnius. We even went to the old Palace if i remember correct, where napoleon visited once for a vew weeks.

When the dudes arrived we went to another bar, had some more Amazing Lithuanian beers, Ate some fried bread with garlic. Fried bread with garlic you say? fuck yeah! this is pretty normal here and its amazingly delicious (google: kepta duona) so simple but so awesome. I love this dish. They Serve it with Cheese or without. We chilled for a bit, afterwards we went to another bar. Balkan Beat evening. We were not drunk enough compared to the peepz already there. but we had a fun time anywayz. After. Me, Ruta n Kamile went for some foodzies, some hamburger place nearby. They took the cab back home. and I walked to the hostel i managed to fix somewhere that afternoon.

I had an amazing day. You cannot imagine how much i love Vilnius, The people, the colors, the architecture, the size, the nature all around. Its amazing! also the fact that i could join the ladies for the night was a really big relieve for me. They were like: if you didn’t meet us you would probably meet someone else. Thats probably true, but still. they are amazing. very kind. and I felt like we were on the same line. Ruta n Kamile have a Very special Talent for Laughter. They smile and laugh so much! also the ladies play in an African music Djembe group. They invited me to join their concert next week on Saturday in the bar where we ate Fried Breadz! I’m really curious and will check it out Fo sho!

Tomorrow i will head to IzReal!

Heading towards Vcity (Vilnius)

CIMG0737My week of Warszawa haz passed. Today is Friday 25th of da aprilz.

Ill be heading towards Vilnius. Its an early one this time. I decided to take the train to Suwalki (a town very close to Lietuva borders) there were no highways in between Vilnius and Warszawa, for some reason I was not in the mood to try hitchhiking it. Also the train is unimaginable cheap so my laziness be like Fuck dat Shit. Train it!!! the train left at 07:20 and would arrive at Suwalki around 12:45, this train trip cost me 15 euroez.

The trip was amazing. I felt allot of emotions when the train left, the people in Warszawa were so kind to me. Slawek, Pio n Asia were such beautiful Spirits. leaving home was easier then leaving Warszawa. The first half an hour of the train trip i had a big smile on my face while leaving some tears of joy, it was a good thing. This emotion i didn’t feel in a long while. I was able to give them a place. this felt really good. After watching the train leave Warszawa, and seeing the area around, I slept for a bit. I was very tired of all the stuff that happened in the past vew days. After sleeping for about an hour, I was again amazed by the beauty of Poland. I crossed farmland, creeks, Rivers, Forrest, Hills, more forests. little villages, Forrest and eventually we got to Suwalki. (back then i wasn’t thinking about bloggzzin. so i didn’t picture it hopefully you will someday train/drive that part of Poland. its really amazing!)

Arriving at Suwalki was different then usual, to explain: Usually i know what road I am hitchhiking and where I Am going. Same when leaving Berlin I knew where I started hitching and where i was going. Due to no map of Suwalki, I tried the map at the bus stop, but I could not figure out what street I should go to and where to walk to cuz it had only bus stops, not much info about streets them self. Basically i oriented on north and started walking north. Of course this was not exactly going to the road I imagined ending up at, so at the nearest bus stop I tried to communicate with the locals.

In Warszawa locals speak English. Here in this little village they did not… eventually I met a hippie who spoke very lil English. He pointed out the way the bus would drive, told me what bus number to take to get to the road I needed to hitchhike north, told me how much bus stops i should wait before leaving it. and as usual, he bought me a ticket (i had polish money but he insisted buying the ticket for me)

Finally arriving at the right road to head north (about 6 bus stops later) i walked to the local market, got myself some Cardboard to write a new shield and started walking the road north. At a gasz station with a lil bank i changed my polish money to litas (which was around 10 euros. that got me 30 litas). then I started thumbing again.

I guess i waited for about 20 minutes when 2 sisters stopped Ugne (Fire) and Goedre. They didn’t cross the border but they were kind enough to drop me off at a gas station right before the border. It was a 15 min drive through amazing scenery. Ugne was a ballet dancer, I can remember this because my mother used to do the same. but i cant recall what Goedre was studying.

At the gas station i had to wait a bit longer. But eventually some Lithuanian dude who came from Poland going back home at the coast of Lietuva stopped and offered me a ride to Kaunas.

CIMG0738As usual My game plan when someone brings me over the border. I asked him to teach me Lithuanian after a short introduction of course. Lithuanian language is weird, they don’t have W or X. and their alphabet has 2x C n E n Z stuff like that they use ‘ on top of them to make them longer/different. My mind was all into Polish, this change was hard for me at first. but after a while i got really used to it.

we had a chat about Lietuva wildlife and wild foodzies that grow in the Forrest, he told me about the different laws about Lietuva, for example: its normal here to walk next to the road, and you can camp outside as long as it is not a protected nature area. We spend allot of time on the language and the pronunciation. Kaunas was a 2 hour drive ETA, he wanted to drop me off at a bus stop. It is very common here to hitchhike from the bus stop, he told me that would be my best chance rather then the Gasz stations. We couldn’t find the bus stop he wanted to drop me off, so he dropped me at a gasz station anyway.

There I was. For the first time solo in Lietuva. My game was the same as usual, I parked my pack with shield, this time it said Vilnius and started talking to peepz who came out of the shop. Labas Vakaras, do you speak English ? heading to Vilnius maybe? I don’t know if it was because its Friday, but my first impression of the Lithuanian locals was not so well. They were kind-ish, but also very distant. besides that. no one went to Vilnius. They all either went inside Kaunas or the usual excuses “ill take the next exit”  after a while some dude who didn’t speak English very well tried to explain me there was a bus stop not so far from the gas station. He be like: go through Forrest, lil town n then bus stop. I figured I should try the bus stop, the gasz station didn’t bring me much luck so far. So I bought a hot dog and went scouting for the bus stop.

It was really close and seemed perfect. The highway was a 3 lane road and it had a merging lane which came from the gasz station. Now I had more chance finding a ride cuz i had the cars from the gas station and also the cars driving the highway, at least that’s what i thought. After a while some car stopped at the bus stop. I ran as fast as i could to the car, grabbed my pack from the grass on my way n ran a bit more. when i got to the car and opened the door. the lady was like:

I’m very sorry but i just had to stop to make a phone call. I’m not going to Vilnius, I’m sorry. I laughed and be like: dang you gotta be kidding (i didn’t actually said this) It really looked like she stopped for me. Maybe she changed her mind.

I kept trying, but no luck.
I think I stood there for about 3 hours. people smiled, waved, did weird sign language from their car. I think most of them took the next exit or went to Kaunas instead of Vilnius or had full cars. and they tried to explain this by sign language. this was much different then in Poland. where they did this less. i started to understand why Lietuva is supposed to be Hitchhiking Country. people are more used to it here.

Then I noticed some other dude starting to thumb in front of me. I was like. dafuq dude. you gonna try at the same spot as i am? in front of me. whuuuuuttt? not much later he walked to me, he was from Belarus. Didn’t speak English. I tried to tell him i stood there for about 3 hours. and had no luck at all. but he didn’t seem to understand.

Sun almost set, mentally I prepared to pitch my tent somewhere next to the highway and was scanning the area for a nice spot. while still waving my sign to the cars passing by on the highway. But with this crazy Belarussian there I figured it wouldn’t work today.
I decided to try one last time at the gasz station until sundown. If I couldn’t find a ride. I would find a place to pitch my tent.

Back at the gasz station I did my best to talk proper Lithuanian and put all my charm in it.
The first dude n lady I approached spoke very well English. At first they were like, whaha dude, we are indeed going to Vilnius but we cant take you our car is to small. I of course didn’t feel like sleeping next to the highway so didn’t take no for an answer Besides these were the first peepz going to Vilnius ever since I got there. So I be like: No problem I can take my pack on my lap, I’m a skinny dude. it’s all cool, I don’t mind. You know, I just gotta get to Vilnius tonight!!! eventually the dude, his lady friend and their friend fell for my charm and changed their mind. They let me join them in there rather small fancy sportscar. They were right. it was really small. I couldn’t sit straight. I’m a rather long dude compared to the peepz here, but it was comfy enough.

The chat was similar to the last dude i drove with. We spoke about the laws in Lietuva, they thought me more about Lithuanian language pronunciation and the alphabet, also the lady went to Holland for a bit for school. they knew some dutch words like Klootzak, I really liked them and i felt like they liked me. They told me some classic Lithuanian foods I should try. the sun set right before i joined them in the car. at first they would drop me of at the edge of Vilnius. but after getting to know me, they decided to drop of their friend first. and help me out a bit.

CIMG0624Via Bas(izreal) I found some hostels because I didn’t have a place to sleep that night. They were kind enough to call them and reserve a bed for me. They warned me walking alone at night close to the central train station wasn’t such a good idea. I figured ill manage. But they insisted on bringing me to the hostel and hop by a bank first so i could get some more money. Eventually they showed me the old town of Vilnius, the train station. and dropped me right in front of the Hostel they called for me which had exactly 1 bed left.

CIMG0631This was a very big relieve. I had in mind sleeping in a park or at the edge of the city in my fellow tentzel. But they really didn’t like that idea. They didn’t think it was save enough. I forgot their names :( I’m so bad with names, but i gave them my email. hopefully they will mail me. so i can tell them I started blogginz and Thank them one more time for there help. Thank you guys! you were very helpful. very kind. Without you. I would have slept next to the highway at Kaunas. With all this talk about gypsies, crazy junkies n pickpockets around the Central station at late hours I got a little scary first impression of Vilnius. But well. It was Friday night, I decided to scout a bit and find myself some food. I was so hungry, all I ate was a hotdog in between Suwalki and now (around 23:)

My first Impression of Vilnius was very nice, It was so lovely. allot of colors, much “sfeer”  I didn’t notice anything of all the crazy peepz. This was probably cuz I was at the old town, and not wandering around the central station with my huge backpack. I found some Burger place and got myself something similar to a Mac Chicken. I didn’t feel like partying, so after eating something. I went to the hostel and took a good night sleep. This was my first night in a Hostel evah! It was comfy compared to my tent and i had nice peepz in my room. still i feel like hostels are not exactly my kinda thing.

Tomorrow ill tell you all about the Awesome day i had in Vilnius.!
you can check it Here.
